English language arts
Adverbial Clauses
A presentation that looks at what adverbial clauses are with children before getting children to identify adverbial clauses within sentences and creating their own sentences with adverbial clauses in.
Apostrophes Activity
Three differentiated worksheets that focus on the use of apostrophes. Written with Year 5 in mind but easily used in other year groups.
Jigglypuff Reading Comprehension
Reading comprehensions related to Pokemon to try and engage children whilst also developing their comprehension skills. Included is a fact file about Jigglypuff with three differentiated sets of 10 questions with the answers included.
St David's Day Reading Comprehension
A fact file that looks at St David's Day, including a brief introduction to who St David was and how he is celebrated in the modern day. Also included are three differentiated worksheets with questions related to the text they have read with the answers included.
Written with Year 5/6 in mind but can be used higher up.
Apprentice activity
An activity that looks at being able to create a fast food business with children. This activity can be done over a day or over a number of days/ weeks through discrete sessions. In groups they will allocate themselves roles and take responsibility for different aspects of the business. This all ends in children having to show their advert and pitch, with one group being crowned the winner at the end.
N.B: Children will need filming equipment for their advert whether it be a camera or iPad.
Any fast food advert will do for the advert example.
Any example pitch from the Apprentice will work appropriately.
Grammar and punctuation galore
This is a PowerPoint that includes 100 slides looking at a big range of grammar and punctuation features. These include looking at defining, showing examples and for some activities for children to complete.
This can be used for a range of features including: revision activities, starters, morning activities for some and to just quickly find examples for a range of features.
Who Wants to be a Millionaire template
A template that is fully-hyperlinked and ready to use as a tool for assessing children's knowledge about any topic you are doing in a fun way. Simply insert the questions and answers where you wish, with it being highlighted which answer hyperlinks to the correct place.
Year 6 Grammar Revision Booklets
Seven grammar revision booklets for Year 6 based on the seven different strands that are assessed within the test. Included in each one is questions from 2017, 2018 and 2019 that match up to the strand given in the mark scheme for children to then be able to practice a specific strand.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Chapter Twenty Four Reading Comprehension Questions
40 different questions for Chapter Twenty Four of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl that test a range of skills. These can be used for guided reading sessions or to give children as activities to support guided reading sessions/ whole class reading comprehensions. The questions follow the order of the chapter but don't have answers attached as the answers can vary depending on the child's opinion.
